The Sands not quite sold yet

THE Sands Resort in Torquay has not yet officially changed hands, with the purported new owners still finalising the sale and the selling agent reluctant to comment.

The golf course and hotel complex owned by Cloud Abacus Holdings and Odyns Holdings entered voluntary administration in July.

Receivers were appointed to sell the business one month later, with Colliers International overseeing the expressions of interest campaign.

Earlier this month, Glenn Campbell was reported as the new owner of the resort.

However, when contacted last week, Mr Campbell’s representative said he was not in a position to comment “until the sale has been finalised”.

Mr Campbell was on the agenda to speak about his plans for the business at the annual general meeting of The Sands Residents Association on December 13 but did not attend.

Colliers International is still advertising The Sands for sale on its website.

“We’ll release a press release when there’s something to be announced, but at this stage, we can’t say anything,” Colliers International director Guy Wells said last week.

“It’s in the hands of the process but hopefully it’ll be resolved pretty shortly.”
