AFTER undergoing a $2 million renovation, the Leopold Sportsmans Club is the place that offers something for everyone.

The “Sporties” has expanded to cater for the town’s growing population and now boasts a 200-seat dining area – ideal for dinner with family and friends, private function room for up to 140 people and two-storey indoor kids’ room.

There are also new additions to the kitchen, along with a new menu and the club has welcomed chef Darren Nicolich.

Darren has extensive experience in the bistro service scene, having worked at the Grovedale Hotel and Fyansford Hotel, and everything is now made in-house by the kitchen team.

The Sporties sizzler is just one dish on the menu, which is a 300-gram porterhouse steak cooked to your liking, served on a hot sizzler.

The plate is topped with crumbed calamari rings and a prawn skewer, finished with house-made garlic cream sauce and served with chips and salad, or chips and vegetables.

Club manager Paul Kelly said Darren was a wealth of experience and that he was happy to have Darren on board.

The club also offers a seasonal menu that changes three or four times a year based on seasonal produce.

Mr Kelly said with more than 12,000 people living in Leopold, he wanted the Sporties to be the place that had something for everyone.

All main meals are offered at a discount for members, meaning there is great value to be had by signing up.

In addition to the bistro menu, there is also a bar menu available in the lounge.

Seniors can take advantage of the $12.50 seniors’ menu seven days a week, while there is also a $12.50 lunch menu available Monday to Saturday, and a parmy theme night every Monday.

Sporties will also be home to live entertainment evenings every second weekend in the bar.

The Leopold Sportsmans Club is at 135 Kensington Road.

Lunch is served from 11.30am to 2pm and dinner 5.30pm to 8pm.

To book, phone 5250 2250.

The kids are sure to love the two-storey indoor play room.
