There’s no business like snow business at Blunt
SNOW season is here, and Blunt Skateboarding and Snow has a big line-up of opening weekend specials for you to gear up before you hit the powder.
The Torquay store is offering up to 50 per cent off selected styles of boards, boots, jackets, bindings and pants.
Blunt also has new season combo deals on boards, boots, jackets, bindings and pants – buy any two or more, and get 20 per cent off the total price.
Blunt snow buyer Josh Eades said excitement was building among the skiing and snowboarding community.
“There’s not a lot of snow on the ground but the temperatures are right for snow to fall.
“The opening weekend is a bit of a party, really. It’s more about people looking forward for the season to start, and for more snow to come, and to get up there and get a couple of runs in.”
The Queen’s Birthday long weekend traditionally signals the start of the Victorian snow season, and the Mount Buller, Falls Creek, Mount Hotham and Mount Baw Baw resorts are staging events and activities for those making the trip up the mountain.
Mount Buller has been preparing for the start of the winter since mid-April when the SnowFactory began producing a huge stockpile of snow on its Bourke Street run, and ski lifts general manager Laurie Blampied said he is looking forward to getting his skis back on.
“Our snowmaking team fired up the SnowFactory a month ago and we’ve been watching the snow piles growing by the day.”
On May 16, Hotham was blanketed in 30 centimetres of snow – its biggest May snowfall since 2000.
