MORE than 1000 pairs of free thongs are on their way to Lorne after the Surf Coast was the latest stop of a community giving initiative.

Footwear manufacturer Archies was in town on Saturday delivering golden tickets to homes and businesses at Lorne as part of its happiness project.

The giveaway forms part of Archies’ plan to distribute pairs of its thongs across New South Wales and Victoria, as a show of support to regional areas that have battled through challenges of the COVID pandemic.

Archies Footwear founder and CEO Daniel Jones said he was thrilled to see Lorne residents support the initiative.

“The day went really well with the Archies crew handing out more than 1000 free pairs of Archies to our friends in Lorne,” he said.

“We can already see the vouchers being used which is awesome.

“Hopefully the latest stop in our Happiness Project brought some smiles to a few faces in Lorne.”

The golden tickets each have a Lorne-specific code that recipients can redeem to receive a $40 pair of thongs from Archies.
