THE first Mayfair event in four years was a massive success, according to one of its organisers, as thousands descended on Bellbrae Primary School last Sunday.

Organiser and school administrator Belinda Bassi said the day could not have gone better with residents and visitors enjoying a raft of activities and rides.

“It was a huge success, our community came and supported the school.

“Everyone had great fun, ex-students who hadn’t been back to help for the last four years lent a hand, it was just a success all-round.

“The food was great, everyone enjoyed the entertainment, enjoyed the music, and that’s all on the back of our community’s efforts.”

Ms Bassi estimated more than 3,000 people attended on the day, with more than 2,000 fair-goers at the school at any given time.

All proceeds from the event will go towards maintaining playground equipment. The school had not had the ability to fundraise in this manner since 2020.

“This funding will be a huge boost for the school,” Ms Bassi said.

Over 3,000 people attended Sunday’s Mayfair event.

“This is money we just don’t get through curricular contributions and now we can allocate these funds to much-needed areas of the school.”

The school was still calculating funds raised at the time of this article’s deadline.
