Thousands explore Surf Coast Arts Trail
THE Surf Coast Arts Trail is celebrating its largest ever turnout with thousands attending the event over two days.
Surf Coast Shire mayor Liz Pattison praised the Arts Trail as a huge success in its return over the weekend of August 5-6, showcasing the creative talent the region has to offer.
“It was a highlight of my weekend,” Cr Pattison said.
“It was one of the biggest turnouts we’ve seen in the event’s 12-year history with many thousands making their way around 58 art studios and venues throughout the shire.”
Featuring a diverse mix of artwork on display, the trail featured the skills of more than 200 local artists, giving visitors a front row seat to their creative processes.
“We’re hearing from local artists that the trail is a terrific generator of awareness for them, which is leading to bookings being made for workshops and artworks being sold,” Cr Pattison said.
“Torquay’s Ashmore Arts was buzzing with some 3,000 people attending over the weekend – a 50 per cent increase on last year’s visitor numbers to the Torquay Arts Hub.”
