THOUSANDS of music fans took to the Torquay leg of this year’s The Drop Festival at the weekend, dancing their way into the balmy night while the world’s best surfers awaited the next call of the Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach.

Hosted at Torquay Common for the second year running, the sold-out event opened the gates at 3pm and welcomed a diverse demographic of families, teenagers and over-18s.

Iconic New South Wales brother-and-sister duo Angus and Julia Stone headlined and closed the festival, engaging with the crowd in a singalong to round out the festivities.

The Jungle Giants performed as the sun went down before Hockey Dad embraced the night sky with an epic lightshow.

Client Liaison, Alex the Astronaut and Ocean Grove artist, Chitra, were also among the highly anticipated line-up.

The Drop Festival is a touring event which follows the World Surf League on its championship journey. It will finish up its 2019 season on Saturday June 1 in Busselton, Western Australia.
