STUART Grimley MP has thanked community members who donated to his office’s St Vinnies Winter Appeal blanket drive.

Mr Grimley, who opened the doors to his Torquay office last month, said he was overwhelmed by the generosity and high number of contributions from locals.

“It has also been great for myself and my staff to meet members of the community through their donations,” he said.

“It has been very humbling moving into my Electorate Office in Torquay last month and having a huge number of people come in to say hello or discuss matters in the community.”

Donations have included wool blankets, hand-knitted crochet items, throws and fitted sheets.

“With stagnant wages and rising mortgages, there are a large number of people in places like Armstrong Creek struggling financially,” Mr Grimley said.

“To reduce living costs, many are not putting their heating on at night. I hope these blankets will go some way to keeping them and their families warm.”
