TORQUAY’s cricket, football and netball clubs will all come together next month when the Tiger Drop annual fundraiser roars into town.

Set to be held for its sixth annual edition on Sunday, April 2, local ticketholders will cast their eyes over a huge crane which will drop a total of 1000 golf balls onto the centre of the football field, with one lucky winner walking away $15,000 richer.

The second-place winner will take home $3,500 while third wins $1000.

Outside of the prize money ball drop, the day will also involve plenty of fun activities for the family, including live music from Bjorn to be Wild (the Australian ABBA Show), childrens activities and plenty of food and beverage options.

Torquay Tigers Football Club vice-president Tim Carson said the event committee hoped the event would be another sell-out.

A total of 1000 golf balls will drop from a crane to determine a $15,000 winner.

“It’s the Sunday after the first home game, so it’s going to be a big weekend,” Carson said.

“Ticket sales are going really well… every year we’ve sold out or have gone very close to that.

“It’s a huge event and the funds will importantly go towards improving our club for our juniors and coaches coming forward.”

Carson said that in years gone by, the Tiger Drop funds have been a huge help in upgrading facilities across all three Torquay Tigers sporting clubs.

“The netballers upgraded their rooms a few years ago and the funds were incredibly important for them,” Carson said.

“The cricketers were able to buy a new roller… it cost the club $32,000 and if you don’t have a good roller or turf wicket, it makes things very hard.

“We just hope to raise as much as possible… the fundraiser is very important for all three clubs, and we are all working closely to make sure it’s a really good community event.”

Strictly only 1000 tickets are available and can be purchased by visiting torquaytigers.com or by contacting Tim Carson on 0434 690 930.
