Top dog announced in canine calendar

A DOG from Armstrong Creek has won the people’s choice award in next year’s Canines of Corangamite calendar.

The picture of Maisie, a seven-year-old kelpie, jumping for a ball in the Otway Ranges National Park will be featured on the page for April in the 2024 calendar being produced by Corangamite federal member Libby Coker.

Masie’s owner Ethan Cook, a teacher at Nelson Park School in Geelong, said Maisie was used to performing in front of the camera.

“As I work as a media arts teacher for special needs students, she often features in lots of the kids’ short films and adores working with them.”

He said the whole family would celebrate the win by taking Maisie to her favourite picnic spot near Point Impossible.

Mr Cook and his family will receive a $100 voucher to spend at The Salty Dog Café, Torquay.

Ms Coker said her office had received a huge response of talented and gorgeous dogs for the Canines of Corangamite calendar, with more than 200 entries submitted.

She said she wanted the calendar to celebrate the bond people have with their four-legged friends and the extraordinary moments that can happen in our own backyard.
