ELITE sporting talent will take centre stage at the Torquay Boardriders’ Easter Luncheon later this month.

The local surfing club has assembled a star-studded panel for its major fundraiser on 27 March, with Jakara Anthony, Bailey Smith and Connor O’Leary confirmed as headline guests.

Australia’s most successful winter Olympian, Jakara Anthony, has been described by organisers as the “highest credentialed luncheon guest of all time”.

The 27-year-old Barwon Heads local is a two-time Olympic gold medallist in freestyle skiing and will share stories from her career while offering insight into what it takes to reach the top of elite sport.

“Gold medal level character” Bailey Smith will also bring his spirited and charismatic presence to the event.

Organisers say Smith’s appearance will offer a more candid side of the AFL star: “It won’t be Channel 7 Baz. We’ve got the real Bailey Smith turning up to tell us what he really thinks.”

The Geelong Cats midfielder will reflect on the people who helped shape his AFL journey and life away from the bright lights of the MCG and GMHBA Stadium.

Australian-Japanese surfer Connor O’Leary rounds out the panel, representing the surfing world.

The Jeffreys Bay World Surf League event winner represented Japan at the most recent Olympics and is a member of the Championship Tour.

Organisers say O’Leary brings a deep personal story and career journey “that you need to hear”.

The luncheon will also feature food and drinks, major auction items and additional special guests.

Funds raised will support Torquay Boardriders’ junior programs and help young members pursue professional surfing pathways.

Tickets are available through the club’s website and social media channels.
