In a somewhat clinical display, TBC’s team delivered consistent high scores through the semi-final and final on their way to victory.

THE Torquay Boardriders Club has continued its dominance of Victorian Team surfing, winning its 8th consecutive Victorian Team’s Title at Bells Beach on Sunday.

Rincon provided the perfect playing field for the tag team event, with copious long running right handers on offer.

In a somewhat clinical display, TBC’s team delivered consistent high scores through the semifinal and final, with a total of 48.56 winning the main teams event by almost 10 points.

In a great day for 3228, the Jan Juc Boardriders secured its best ever result, finishing second overall with 38.6 points. Phillip Island finished third (23.91) and 13th Beach fourth (17.96).

Club President Cahill Bell-Warren was the nominated ‘power surfer’, meaning his score would be doubled. In the final he locked in a 8.73 ride, the day’s highest single score to contribute 17.46 to his clubs total.

“To win this event means so much to our club” said Bell-Warren.

“Today was the most dominant I can remember TBC being, every single surfer played their role and delivered big scores.

“As a club we have put a heavy focus on training for this event, I definitely think that played a huge role in our results today.”

With Johnny Hawken, Todd Rosewall, Jack Perry, Xavier Huxtable and Bella Wilson all contributing big scores in the final it was a powerful display.

To top off the win, TBC’s young angels also owned the Junior Tag Team division, with the four-surfer squad winning by 8.52 points over 13th Beach, Point Lonsdale and Peninsula.

To increase participation and to give as many surfers as possible experience at the high intensity format, TBC used a total of seven surfers through the event in the Juniors.

Indi White anchored the squad, with Jack Kay, Spencer Kay, Bodhie Williams, Ethan Huxtable, Jazz Wylie and Angela Ball all pulling on the jersey to represent the club.

The TBC Committee would like to thank all those who contributed to both the training sessions and on the day, as well as everyone who came down to throw their support behind the club on Sunday.
