TORQUAY Boardriders is backing up its recent world’s top boardriding club title with momentum out of the water, following a strong turnout at its Easter Luncheon.
More than 300 attended the event, raising funds to support the club’s junior program and year-round competitions.
Club vice-president Fraser Clatworthy said the result would help drive the next phase of growth.
“We just want to keep progressing forward,” Clatworthy said. “Our numbers are super high in terms of competitors, and our club is in an amazing position.

“It takes a lot to run competitions, but these funds allow us to put back into our juniors, keep the rust out of the van and buy everyone beers and soft drinks.
“It’s such an exciting time for the club; we are on a roll and the focus is to keep it social, fun and good vibes all round.”
Clatworthy said the club had a busy year ahead, including an all-girls clinic at URBNSURF Melbourne and one-on-one coaching with world tour surfers.
Funds raised will also support members heading to the Australian Junior Surfing Titles in December.

“We’ve got so many members competing at such a high-level, with the path certainly there for the stars of the next generation,” Clatworthy said.
“Our under-16 boys and our mixed parent assist continue to be two of our bigger age groups, showing the amazing growth within our club.
“Everyone is welcome – we just want people to come along have fun and hang out.”
The Easter Luncheon also featured a raffle drawn during the Rip Curl Pro at Bells Beach, with proceeds to further support athlete development and ongoing event costs.
