Torquay Rotary Book Fair returns at new location

January 21, 2021 BY

Books at the Torquay Rotary Book Fair will again be on sale for as little as $1.

THE Torquay Rotary Book Fair will be back this year in a new COVIDSafe location.

The annual event will be held over the Australia Day weekend and at Torquay Village, instead of its usual spot at the Scout Hall at Spring Creek Recreation Reserve.

“COVID social distancing restrictions have made the Scout Hall at Spring Creek unworkable, so new larger premises were required,” Torquay Rotary’s Paul Moran said.

All COVID-19 precautions will be in place at the fair, including indoor space ratio for social distancing, QR code sign-in, sanitisation, COVID marshals on site and cashless payment options.

“This year there’s an even more extensive range of both pre-loved and new books at affordable prices, starting from as little as $1,” Mr Moran said

“It’s a great opportunity to top up on some holiday reading from some of your favourite authors across a range of genres.

“It has been an incredibly difficult year for fundraising, and Torquay Rotary has been adept at adapting to new norms and innovative with new ideas and events, to continue to raise much-needed funds to support projects that have a lasting impact, both locally and in conjunction with Rotary International.

“Rotary look forward to the continuing support of the Torquay community and visitors. Please drop in as every dollar will go to supporting Torquay Rotary projects.”

The 2021 Torquay Rotary Book Fair will be held at Shop 8 (the old Jetts gym), Torquay Village, Bristol Road, Torquay from Saturday, January 23 to Tuesday, January 26, and will be open from 9.30am-4pm each day.

Keep an eye out for the posters around town, or head to the Torquay Rotary website or Facebook page for more details.

If you would like to donate books to the fair, books can be dropped off during the fair or for any enquiries beforehand, phone Neil on 0411 753 885.
