Torquay Bowls Club to hold clearout sale
DUE to recent government regulations forcing their temporary closure, Torquay Bowls Club will be holding a sale to clear out all the stock from their kitchen and bar.
The sale will begin at 9am on Thursday, March 26. If all stock is not sold out on the day, the sale will be held again at the same time on Friday.
The sale is open to everyone, but only the members will be able to purchase alcoholic beverages.
Club general manager Peter Temple said the sale will be “first in best dressed, cash only.”
“It’ll literary be everything out of the kitchen, everything we’ve got in the fridge and freezer will go, and everything we’ve got in the bar.”
Any of the food and drink the club is unable to sell they will look to give to charity.
Mr Temple said the club was trying to keep as many of their permanent staff as possible but have had to let go all casual staff.
“We’re doing what we can to find the casual staff alternate employment, but sadly the entire hospitality industry has been wiped off the face of the map.
“It’s disappointing, but we just don’t have a choice.”
Those who have not been able to find other employment have been stood down without pay.
