ENTRIES for the 2024 Torquay Business Awards, presented by the Surf Coast Times, will close in just three weeks, with the now-extended deadline set for October 6.

Now in its third year, the newly revamped awards aim to acknowledge the individuals and businesses who inspire the community with their passion, courage and innovation, with businesses big and small operating across the 3228 postcode invited to shine a light on their achievements and submit an entry.

This year’s awards will be run by Commerce Torquay in partnership with the Rotary Club of Torquay and major sponsor the Surf Coast Times, and feature seven different award categories.

They are:

  • Professional Services, such as businesses in the field of real estate, finance and health and wellbeing
  • Trade Services, such as builders and electricians
  • Tourism and Hospitality, including restaurants, cafés and accommodation providers
  • Not-for-profit
  • Business Leader of the Year, and
  • Business of the Year, which will be selected from entrants into the above award categories.

Businesses will be judged on their performance across several key criteria, including their standard of service delivery, demonstrated pursuit of excellence, contributions to the community and positive impacts on the environment.

Commerce Torquay co-vice-president Sarah Minter encouraged those who had not yet submitted an entry to the Torquay Business Awards to do so before the October 6 deadline.

“The Torquay Business Awards provide an opportunity to celebrate the incredible businesses servicing 3228,” she said.

“From innovative start-ups to established enterprises, we invite you to showcase your accomplishments and celebrate your success!”

This year, each award category winner will also walk away with an exciting prize.

“We would like to thank the sponsors of the Torquay Business Awards: GAWK, Great Ocean Road Tourism, Rotary Club of Torquay, Whitekat Beverage Co and Times News Group for their invaluable support,” Sarah said.

“Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors, we are thrilled to offer amazing prizes including advertising packages from GAWK, Great Ocean Road Tourism and the Surf Coast Times, alongside a cash prize for the not-for-profit category.”

She said there were still opportunities for further sponsors to come on board and encouraged interested businesses to email [email protected] for more information.

This year’s category winners will be crowned on November 18 at The Sands Resort, Torquay.
