TORQUAY resident and Melbourne Triathlon Club member Adam Conquest has continued his winning streak coming in first at the SunSmart IRONMAN Busselton 70.3.

The event held in Western Australia over the weekend was also the National Long Course Championship and saw Adam place first in the 45-49 age category with a total time of three hours, 58 minutes and 18 seconds.

Treacherous conditions and 50kilometer winds forced race organizers Triathlon Western Australia to replace the swim with a three-kilometre run.

Kathryn Clare from Triathlon Western Australia said 1500 competitors braved tough winds and intermittent heavy rain throughout the duration of the course.

New Zealander Terenzo Bozzone took out the men’s professional category and West Australia Liz Blatchford taking out the women’s professional category.
