TORQUAY Commerce and Tourism will be rebranding, with the peak Torquay traders’ association to announce its new name as part of next month’s Geelong Small Business Festival.

However, the GSBF online calendar has given the game away, with the August 22 event listed as “Rebrand of Commerce Torquay”.

TCT vice-president Robert Skehan announced the organisation’s intentions to rebrand at last week’s Localised Meetup at Peppers The Sands Resort.

He said TCT had been doing a lot of research over the past six to eight months, led by president Jeff Crow.

“He’s been out there talking to our key stakeholders, key businesses in and around Torquay to find out exactly what businesses want from their local traders’ association.

“All of that’s coming together at this event.”

He said the August 22 event at Bird Rock in Jan Juc from 5.30-7pm unfortunately clashed with the Geelong Chamber of Commerce’s After 5 event, but noted that Mr Crow was also the owner of Torquay business Bells Beach Brewing and would donate some barrels of beer to his event.

“We will then let everybody know what we’ve found – we’re basically rebranding the organisation – and that will happen in a public sense on August 22, so please come along.”
