THE Surf Coast arts community will step out in style next week as Hoop Gallery hosts its annual Gala by the Sea fundraising evening.
The red-carpet event will be held at the Torquay-based gallery on 28 February from 7pm, bringing together art, live music and auctions.

Entertainment will be provided by local jazz group The Sweethearts, while the gallery’s newly renovated space will feature a curated exhibition of works by artists Cael Lyon and John Walker.
A highlight of the evening will be a live auction of a seascape photograph by internationally awarded ocean photographer Tal Lemmens, alongside a silent auction offering contemporary works from regional artists.
Hoop Gallery president Virginia Aldred said the night aimed to bring the creative community together.
“Gala by the Sea is more than a celebration – it’s an immersive experience that connects artists, ideas and community, highlighting the power of creativity to bring people together,” she said.

The volunteer-run gallery will use the proceeds from the event to help fund daily operations and expand community-focused creative programs.
Attendees will receive a welcome drink on arrival, a raffle ticket and access to a grazing table prepared by The Geelong Platter Co. Hoop Gallery is at 77 Beach Road, Torquay.
