Torquay Lions join national Tracky Dack Day
ON Friday August 31, Torquay Lions will join hundreds of other Australians in Tracky Dack Day.
Club Vice President Brian Keane declared Tracky Dack Day to be an opportunity for Australians to “dack up and donate” by wearing tracksuit pants (“trackies”) and fundraising for sick kids.
“Tracky Dack Day will see Torquay Lions collecting for children’s charity TLC for Kids,” he said.
“Our prime position will be at Bunnings Torquay running a sausage sizzle for the kid’s charity, a cause our Lions Club unanimously chose to support.
“Tracky Dack Day is an act of solidarity with hospitalised children, who are encouraged to change into trackies to lift their mood and create a more normal day-to-day routine.
“Tracky Dack Day was started by TLC for Kids and is a fun and easy way to help sick children and their families when they need it most,” Lion Brian declared.
TLC for Kids is a children’s charity providing relief and comfort in times of crisis.
Support can range from therapeutic distraction during painful medical procedures, to crucial practical, financial or emotional support for a sick child and their family in dark and difficult times.
TLC for Kids is Australia’s fastest emergency response children’s charity, so funds raised from Tracky Dack Day have a direct and immediate impact on the lives of sick kids.
“Watch for Lions at work collecting donations for TLC for Kids and visit our sausage sizzle at Bunnings on Friday 31 August.
“Every cent we raise goes direct to the charity to help them continue to support hospitalised kids and their families.”
