Torquay P-6 College celebrate popular tradition in style
TORQUAY P-6 College students strutted around in dazzling and colourful costumes on Friday to mark Children’s Book Week tradition.
Foundation/Prep to Year 6 pupils paraded the school gymnasium in their favourite book-inspired costumes to a crowd of more than 150 parents, friends and family members.
Children’s Book Week is an annual celebration of Australian children’s literature and promotes the value of books for the education, enjoyment and enlightenment of children around the country.
Students dressed as Oompa Loompas, UFC star Connor McGregor, Wednesday Addams from the Addams Family, Where’s Wally, Little Miss Sunshine and much more.
Torquay P-6 College acting principal Simon O’Brien said the Children’s Book Week tradition was a fantastic way of celebrating reading and literacy with the wider school community.
“There were so many Torquay College families watching the parade and getting involved, further reinforcing our community connection values.
“There were happy faces everywhere and everyone was super excited.
“What a great chance to celebrate as a community through Book Week at Torquay College.”
