Torquay Rotary Motor Show on the hunt for judges
AS THE Torquay Rotary Motor Show gears up for its 2025 return, event organisers are on the hunt for competition judges.
Judges for the show are normally made up of members from car clubs and those who have some experience in the field, with some often travelling down from Melbourne.
The club is looking for around 24 judges for the event, asking people to indicate as soon as they can if they’re interested in taking on the role.
“Our plan is for each car to be judged by three individual judges, that gets averaged out to spread the difference people might have in terms of their views and opinions of what they see,” Rotary Motor Convener Trevor Hall said.
The 2025 motor show will run slightly differently next year, with the introduction of mobile apps and technology to manage the event, including being used for judging.
Using the app, judges will be able to work within their zone, rather than previous years where they’ve been judged by class, allowing them to get through cars at a quicker rate and more seamlessly.
There will be 19 class awards up for grabs as well as four special awards and a new People’s Choice Award.
All judges will be trained on how to use the app before the event and provided plenty of experience prior to the show.
Organisers are also in need of more volunteers for the day.
“Any of our locals that are community-minded and they want to come and help out, there’s jobs that we can use them for, not requiring technology,” Rotary Club of Torquay president Bruce Turner said.
“They can be helping us on the barbecue, can be helping just direct cars and things like that.”
The Torquay Rotary Motor Show will take place on Sunday, February 9 from 8am until 3pm along the Torquay Esplanade.
