Torquay SLSC farewells Rocky McCoppin

Family, friends and lifesaving colleagues gathered at the Torquay Surf Life Saving Club recently to celebrate the life of Torquay resident Geoff “Rocky” McCoppin, who passed away in August.

Mr McCoppin left a legacy virtually unsurpassed in the life saving organisation over the past 60 years. His entrepreneurial flair helped raise thousands of dollars for life saving equipment for the Torquay beaches.

McCoppin competed in surf boat racing as a young man in the late 1950s before committing to the management of the club and was awarded life membership in 1995.
