Torquay Taphouse to celebrate winter solstice
TORQUAY Taphouse will host its first band night tomorrow (Saturday, June 21), eight months after opening its doors.
The venue will celebrate winter solstice – the longest night of the year – with live music from South Atlas, Tig and Axis Mundi as well as an aerial silk performance from Minerva Lamorgese.
The Taphouse’s Renae Ranger said it was a great opportunity to use the beautiful big venue.
She said the venue would activate the front dining room and there would be mulled wine among the special food and drinks on offer.

“It’s very exciting and it’s just good to be able to do something else, provide some fun for the community, and get everyone together when it’s a cold winter’s night.”
Ranger was thrilled to find Minerva from Mivart earlier this year.
“When we first opened the Taphouse, I was just trying to think of ways that we could use the space and think of some different events and things that we could bring to the coast,” she said.
“With the big high ceilings and my daughter’s love of aerial silks, I thought ‘Wow, wouldn’t it be cool to have an aerial artist perform’.”

Tickets for the adults-only (18+) event can be purchased online for $20 each.
Bookings can be made at @torquaytaphouse on Instagram and doors open at 5pm.
