THE Division 5 team from Torquay Golf Club is celebrating a successful season after taking home the win in the South West District Golf Association men’s pennant finals.

Played at Bannockburn on Sunday May 20, the team captained by Murray Bingham took on Geelong in the final and won 4/3, which will also see the team promoted to Division 4 in the 2019 season.

The result is a great turnaround for the Division 5 players, as it comes after their 1.5/5.5 defeat by Geelong at Birregurra earlier in the year.

Torquay Golf Club also had its Division 3 team playing in the pennant final at Ocean Grove and went into the match undefeated, but lost to Colac 4/3.

In other men’s pennant final results, 13th Beach secured their sixth straight Division 1 title with a 5/2 win over The Sands, Division 2 team Queens Park earned promotion to Division 1 next year with a 4/3 win over Lonsdale, Clifton Springs defeated Bannockburn 4/3 in Division 4, and Bannockburn recorded a 4/1 win over Apollo Bay in the Handicap Division.
