Torquay Tornadoes book in grand finals

The under 17 mixed team reached the Grand Final with a 2-0 win over Newtown.

The Torquay Tornadoes has been successful in locking in three teams so far to this year’s grand finals in the Geelong Hockey Association on September 15.

On the weekend, Torquay was represented in all grades in finals both in juniors and seniors.

The under-17 mixed team reached the Grand Final with a 2-0 win over Newtown.

The Torquay team featured seven girls in the mixed team and played a great brand of hockey sharing the ball around. Puck Klaassen and Maddison Samsa scored the goals.

The under-14 team was also successful beating the undefeated Geelong team, which was an amazing result.

Once again the Torquay team had a very mixed team with both girls and boys combining to take home a 1-0 victory. Rylee Connor was the goal scorer.

In other results, the Men’s Division 1 team secured a spot on the grand final with an 8-1 win over the Saints. They will enter the grand final as favourites and reigning premiers.

The Women’s Division 1 team lost their game against a very powerful Geelong and will have another chance next weekend as they take on Saints for the grand final berth.

Teams to exit the finals were the under 12s, and Division 2 Men and Women.
