THE Torquay Wine Store will champion local artists and share their works with the community at their new “The Artist Series” events, which begin on Thursday, June 15.

The first in the series, “Tales Of The Sea”, will feature Torquay-based international award-winning ocean and seascape photographer Tal Lemmens.

He is well known for his ability to capture the wild, windy and rugged beauty of the sea in the Great Ocean Road region and in other parts of the Australian coastline.

Lemmens’ photos have been seen by audiences around the world and lauded at the prestigious VIEPA Viena International Photo Awards in 2020 and 2021.

During his feature show, several of his best works will be on display and Lemmens will be on hand to answer any questions.

Tal Lemmens is lauded for his ability to capture the wildness and ruggedness of the ocean.

Torquay Wine Store owner Mick Dowling said the series would showcase “the rich vein of talent within the local art community”.

“We are stoked to have Tal as our first featured artist for our new series.

“Artists like Tal have come through the space over the past 18 months and thought it would be a great venue for an exhibition or art show, so it’s fantastic that we are now going to bring that to life.

“He’s never had a solo gallery, so he’s super pumped for the opportunity.

“We hope it can help develop a sense of community and champion our local artists.

“The support thus far has been overwhelming, plenty of tickets have sold and we can’t wait!”

The exhibition will be Mr Lemmens’ first solo show.

Mr Dowling said if the first event was successful, the plan was to run events every two months and feature new artists each time.

All art from the series will remain in the venue for two weeks, giving the artists a chance to exhibit their works to a wider audience.

The event will begin at 6.30pm.

Tickets are $15 and include a glass of wine, beer or soft drink, plus some light snacks.
