TORQUAY’S ALDI OPENS
Shoppers flocked to Torquay’s newest supermarket as Aldi officially opened on Wednesday last week. The supermarket, located in Winki Way in Torquay North, features a number of recently introduced innovations for the German chain, including better product displays, improved navigation and a modern interior store design. The car park was full throughout opening day and shoppers parked in surrounding streets. Volunteers from the Jan Juc Surf Life Saving Club, who ran a fundraising sausage sizzle outside, said shoppers formed a queue before doors opened, and that lawnmowers, clothes racks and beach towels were selling particularly well – coincidentally (or not), all three items are on the front of Aldi’s latest catalogue.
