Torquay’s first beer festival goes down as a winner

MORE than 300 people gathered at Blackmans Brewery at the weekend for Torquay’s first beer festival.

Saturday’s Point Break Brewery Invitational gave local beer-lovers the opportunity to taste a selection of top brews from around the world.

Attendees whet the palate with beers from Behemoth Brewing (NZ), Forest Road Brewery (UK), Firestone Walker Brewing (USA), Range Brewing (QLD) and Victorian heavyweights Sailors Grave Brewing Bridge Rd Brewers, Noodledoof Brewing, Goodland Brewing and Hop Nation Brewing.

A local winemaker and special seltzer bar also featured for those not feeling like getting their hop on.

“It was just fantastic. To get 300 down there made it one of our biggest ever.

“We had some cracking beers down there which were enjoyed thoroughly by all.

“Everyone seemed super pumped on it all, we had really great feedback from everyone.”

Blackmans Brewery have hopes of running the event again in 2025.

“Hopefully we will get it up again,” Mr Blackman added.

“We will take some time to recuperate and see how it all turns out.”
