Torquay’s Star of the Sea makes sense for locals

July 11, 2018 BY

Star of the Sea is holding an open day on Saturday July 21.

Choosing the best aged care for a loved one is a big decision

Community nurse Suzanne Tatnell said that even though her job put her in contact with older people in aged care, it was still tough when she had to head down that path for her own mum, Val.

“Even as a nurse, where you think you’ve seen it all and know it all, I doubted myself a lot and wondered if I was doing the right thing,” she recalls.

She says her family chose Star of the Sea Residential Aged Care in Torquay for a few reasons.

The family loved its inviting and modern design and the dedication and friendliness of the staff.

It was also close to her Torquay home and other family members.

She said a visit to Star of the Sea was important and helped the family get an appreciation of the kind of care and support her mum would receive.

“When we walked into Star of the Sea the vibe of the place was open.

“It was lovely and people took us around and there were no small corridors, they were spacious.

“It had that family warmth feel to it. The lounge was open it was spacious and you felt like you were walking into a home. That was a big tick for us.”
