Trails light up for Anglesea series event
MORE than 1,000 runners took to the trails of the Great Ocean Road over the weekend as part of Victoria’s premier Trail Running Series.
The Anglesea trail running adventure was set against a backdrop of delightful winter sunshine, with competitors weaving their way through the region’s magnificent coastal trails and bushlands.
Runners of all ages and abilities tackled four different course lengths including the 28km marathon, 15km, 8km and all-inclusive 4km dash.
Organised by Torquay event management company Rapid Ascent, the Anglesea race proved to once again be a favourite among participants for its distinctive trail running experience.

“Trail running is about embracing the unexpected, and our Anglesea course delivers that in spades,” event director John Jacoby said.
“We’re proud to showcase these hidden coastal gems – the kind of tracks you’d never find unless you knew where to look.”
A highlight of the day was the friendly 4km event which brought out families, first-timers and local legends for a feel-good short race.

The event celebrated community spirit with the podium winners going to local juniors Sage Capuano and Sam Zdrzalka.
The premier 28km long course was taken out by Owed Todd and Demi Caldwell, while Will Bruhn and Victoria Cole were victorious in the 15km medium course.
Magnus Woods and Amber Louw triumphed in the 8km race.
