Transfer station to hold clearance sale

THERE is so much bric-a-brac and other re-useable items at the Anglesea Transfer Station that a clearance sale will be held this Saturday, December 15.

The Community Resale Shed captures items from going to landfill or being recycled for scrap and offers them for re-use back to residents.

There’s everything from bikes to beds, furniture, tools, paintings and golf clubs, plus a whole lot more.

The best thing is that all the proceeds go back to the local community groups who operate the shed year round on Saturdays and to the All Aboard disability group in Torquay, who use the shed for client training and development.

Since opening in 2014, about $100,000 has been raised at the transfer station.

Each year has seen an increase in the amount of goods recovered and revenue earned – in 2018 it’s expected to be about $30,000.

This equates to each participating community group earning between $300 and $500 each weekend, which they can use for their programs or activities, with the balance going to local charities.

Have a browse and grab a bargain on Saturday between 10am and 2pm.
