THE Torquay Theatre Troupe (TTT) is reopening its One Act Play season this week, nearly two months after its original opening on August 20 and COVID-imposed shutdown the next day.

The two plays, Introverts’ Outing by local writer Sindi Renea and The Knock on the Door by Bruce Olive will be back on the boards in front of a sold-out audience at The MAC from November 18-21.

Casts of both plays are excited to be back in rehearsal mode after the longest lead-up to a production that the troupe has experienced in its 20 years of operation.

TTT is welcoming new director Katrina Eades and a cast of seven women, all of them new to the Torquay stage, to present Introverts’ Outing.

The play is an amusing and heart-warming face-to-face encounter of a group of women who have been meeting online for many months under the care of a psychologist.

First night audiences in August responded with plenty of laughs.

Some familiar TTT faces and one newcomer will present change of pace and emotion with The Knock on the Door.

Directed by Maryanne Doolan, this play is a thought-provoking and moving performance that highlights the effects of war on families left at home.

Before the play and during the interval, theatregoers can enjoy viewing a display of art work from the members of the SurfCoast U3A art group.

TTT has been around since 2002 and has grown from one play a year to two full scale plays and a one-act play (mid-year) as well as various social events such as play readings, barbecues and drinks.

Plays slated for 2022 include Tom Wells’ The Kitchen Sink (to be directed by Michael Baker), John Misto’s Harp on the Willow (to be directed by Gay Bell), Michael Booth and Alistair Powning, Thirty Three (to be directed by Skye Staude in her TTT debut), Georgie Oulton’s Godzonia and Anne Monsour’s Whitehaven (both one-act plays) and Sam Holcroft’s Rules for Living.

Introverts’ Outing and The Knock on the Door will be performed in Shoestring Playhouse at The MAC, 77 Beach Road, Torquay.
