Tunes to strike a chord at Moriac General Store
MORIAC’S General Store is slated to kick off its Sunday Sessions by hosting local band Fuze.
Within a stone’s throw for locals living in Moriac, the popular eatery and trusty post office will feature a local musician or band until late March.
The event series is slated to kick off on Sunday, January 21, with local band Fuze to rock a packed venue.
Drinks will be at bar prices and chef Kirby Downey will be serving up a delicious tapas inspired menu to compliment the music on the day.
Moriac General Store owner Aaron Giles said Sunday sessions will help to build a greater sense of community.
“We are really excited for it, particularly after our recent renovations and installation of our stage and lighting,” he said.
“It helps fill a bit of a hole in the market down here and gives locals a place to go and put their feet up and enjoy on a Sunday.
“The focus is certainly on championing our fine local musicians and showing them off to the community.
“Bookings are already at over 70 people for our first one with the guys from Fuze, and the venue is already booking up for our other ones too.”
Mr Giles said the venue also plans on hosting music on some Friday nights, with the capacity to add more dates in the future if successful.
“It’s taken off really quickly, so we’ve also opted to add some Friday nights in there too,” he said.
“The town has wanted something like this for a while, so we are thrilled to be helping to deliver it.”
