TURNER TRIGGERS A WIN IN WODONGA

TEENAGE Torquay boxer Amy “Trigger” Turner triumphed in Wodonga last weekend. The 16-year-old was declared the winner over 27-year-old Stephanie McCallum from Echuca in a VABL boxing tournament held at Wodonga Racecourse. Torquay Coastal Boxing trainer Ashley Lynch said the fight was intense from the beginning. “I’d hardly just stepped out of the ring and Amy was already over attacking her stunned opponent with a bagful of combinations.” Fellow Torquay Coastal Boxing fighter Euan “The Scottish Savage” Kennedy only just missed out in his battle against Shaun Dussi of Mornington. “We knew we were the underdogs in both fights, and to achieve one win and one split points decision was such great experience in the lead up to the titles end of this year,” Mr Lynch said.
