Twilight Market makes big return after two-year hiatus
HUNDREDS of community members returned to Ocean Grind’s popular Twilight Market for the first time in two years, enjoying a full selection of food stands and art exhibits.
Local artists, producers and makers across the Surf Coast including Tal Lemmens, Kathryn Junor, Brittany March, Ahki Illustration and more headlined the Easter Market raising over $500 in commissions to go directly to flood-affected communities in the north-east of the country.
“Everyone across the Surf Coast was hanging for this sort of thing again,” Ocean Grind founder and Torquay business owner Mark Clatworthy said.
“We had a really big turnout, and everyone continued to roll through from 5.30pm when it kicked off all the way through to the end, which was amazing to see.”
Mr Clatworthy mentioned that all food trucks on the day sold out of food and stallholders were happy after more than 300 people attended last Friday.
These are positive indicators that one of his business’s marquee events is back to stay after a COVID-induced hiatus.
“The artists were happy to get their works back into the community and back into the limelight once again after a pretty stressful couple of years for them,” Mr Clatworthy added.
“Being a small local producer, it’s good to practice what we preach and support local makers and creators around the region.”
Ocean Grind will look to hold three markets per year as it did prior to COVID-19.
