A FAMILY favourite already well established in Geelong will soon celebrate the launch of its first Surf Coast venue.

Two Sugars opens the doors to its third premises on Monday, February 22, bringing the restaurant’s popular take on authentic Italian cuisine to food lovers in Torquay.

Renovations to the beachfront building on The Esplanade are almost complete, with the fully licensed eatery set to open seven days a week offering dine-in for breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as an adjoining takeaway area with separate entrance.

Founder and CEO Nick Crisciane said he was thrilled to expand the Two Sugars brand into Torquay and provide diners with an affordable taste of traditional homemade Italian fare.

“Our store is basically about family-oriented casual dining – you can come off the beach anyway you like,” Nick said.

“I give people what they want – that is the key factor to what we do.

“People want the basics, they love their pastas and they love their pizzas and on top of that there are some traditional homemade-style Italian main meals.”

Popular menu items include the shallow fried calamari or the mussels sautéed with tomato, white wine and garlic, as well as the homemade gnocchi and wide range of woodfire pizzas made by Italian pizza makers who work on site.

Two Sugars already has a loyal clientele at its Pakington and Ryrie Street premises and Nick also has plans to expand into the Bellarine.

Shareholder and manager of the Torquay venue, Luigi Volpe, said he was excited to welcome the first customers into the venue which has the capacity to seat up to 120 patrons inside and in the alfresco dining area.

“We have a lot of bookings coming through online already – on the Monday opening we are already three-quarters full, so that is a really great start,” Mr Volpe said.

Two Sugars Torquay, located at Shop 1-2/40 The Esplanade, opens seven days a week – from 7.30am until late on Saturday and Sunday, and 11am until late Monday to Friday (during the non-peak period). For online bookings, head to twosugarscafe.com/torquay
