U3A offers collaboration for the arts

Renowned actress Maggie Millar will be presenting a “Celebration of John Clarke, through his comic verse and prose” at Torquay Senior Citizens Centre.

U3A Surf Coast, Torquay Theatre Troupe and Torquay Books will be collaborating in October to present an event sure to be of interest to a wide audience.

On October 23, renowned actress Maggie Millar will be presenting a “Celebration of John Clarke, through his comic verse and prose” at Torquay Senior Citizens Centre, 16 Price Street, Torquay at 2pm.

Maggie is an honours graduate of the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, London and well-known for her TV roles – Bellbird, The Sullivans, All the Way, Prisoner and most recently Rev. Rosie Hoyland in Neighbours.

As part of its term four program, U3A Surf Coast will be continuing with 16 regular classes as well as a new initiative, small group tutoring in computer and iPad skills.

This term activities at Anglesea will feature with “Knowing & Growing Anglesea Wildflowers” as well as a lecture on Climate Change from Professor Christian Jakob from Monash University.

Other activities include:

• “Get Online Day” on October 19 to learn more about what you can do with your computer or tablet
• A field trip to the Airey’s Inlet Lighthouse on November 21
• A return of the popular Trivia Afternoon with Tim Robinson on November 9.

Face-to-face enrolments will be held on October 12 (10am-noon) at the newly opened U3A office at 16 Price Street, Torquay.
