Vacant suite at Torquay Community House now available for hire
TORQUAY Community House is inviting locals and businesses to make use of its recently vacated office spaces, with the hire of the venue helping fund programs that give back to the Surf Coast community.
A fixture in Torquay for more than 30 years, the community house generates vital income through the venue’s hire, with the money flowing straight back into its programs and activities.
The centre’s business suite, which until recently was occupied by a sole occupant, is now available for hire. It features a reception area, two offices and a separate entrance.
Torquay Community House manager Prue Challis said the space is well-suited to a range of people and needs, including allied health professionals, employment providers and private clinical practices.
“The space is perfect for anyone really, but it really works well for people who see clients,” she said. “It does have that separate entrance if people would like privacy.
“We’d also be happy to have any funded agencies in there as well, so that their service could be more accessible by being located on the Surf Coast.”

The occupant of the space can be as involved with the house as they would like, but will benefit from its connection to the community.
With the current suite vacant, the house can hire it out as a sole occupancy space to one business or organisation who would like the entire space five days a week, or utilise it as a day-to-day venue hire, depending on what people need.
Ms Challis described the venue hire as a “feel-good” opportunity for those also eager to support the local community.
“We’re a very small team of just three part-time staff and a large team of volunteers, and we provide multiple programs across the week,” she said.
“The revenue that we make from venue hire, it helps with everything from keeping the lights on and paying the bills to supporting the programs that we run and enabling us to provide programs at an affordable price for the community.”
