NEXT week, the annual Variety 4WD Adventure is hitting the road for its 23rd year, and will officially start in Aireys Inlet.

The event will launch at the Aireys Inlet Primary School on Thursday, May 2 and from there will cover some of Victoria’s most iconic 4WD destinations over 10 days.

All in the name of a good cause, the adventurers will tackle 2,580km raising much-needed funds for kids who are sick, disadvantaged or have special needs.

A highlight at the start will be two special grant presentations. The first of these is to the Aireys Inlet Primary School, where funds are being used to finance an outdoor learning area.

Then Variety, in partnership with The Honda Foundation, have co-funded two floating wheelchairs and beach matting to the Jan Juc Surf Life Saving Club to support their life-changing program that allows children with disabilities to experience the ocean.

Having raised more than $1.3 million since its beginning, the Variety 4WD Adventure is an iconic fundraiser that takes explorers to some of the country’s most remote and beautiful locations.

This year, 16 four-wheel drives will journey from Aireys Inlet taking in the sights of the Great Ocean Road, over the South Australian border into Naracoorte and back through the heart of Victoria, stopping at schools and towns along the way.

The adventure is scheduled to finish in Warragul on May 11.
