THE Great Ocean Road Coast and Parks Authority has announced the successful vendors for two Torquay beachfront sites.

The authority has announced Geelong Mobile Ice Cream and Mr Soft Serve and Gelato will trade at Cosy Corner and Elephant Walk respectively following a competitive expressions of interest period.

The authority encouraged the region’s best food trucks to apply over the past two months with licences for a period of up to three years.

Both Geelong Mobile Ice Cream and Mr Soft Serve and Gelato can operate from the two locations seasonally from September 1 to April 30 each year.

The authority’s director of community, corporate affairs and visitor economy Andy Mathers said the selection process was comprehensive, but the organisation believes it had found two high-calibre applicants.

“Thanks to everyone who took the time to submit an expression of interest for these prime locations.

“We’re incredibly impressed with the variety of mobile food trucks our region has on offer and are thrilled to welcome two experienced operators to the Surf coast.”

Mr Soft Serve and Gelato, owned by Geelong resident Boris Jurukovski, offers premium soft serve and artisanal gelato and will expand services to the Torquay area for the first time.

“We hope locals and visitors will bring their friends and family to the beach and enjoy an ice cream from our original Mr Whippy truck,” Mr Jurukovski said.

Geelong Mobile Ice Cream, which has previously operated in Torquay, serves traditional 99 per cent fat free Italian gelati, dairy cream soft serve, dairy scoop ice cream, freshly-made fairy floss and frozen slushies.
