Veterans’ centre gets federal grant

November 29, 2017 BY

CORANGAMITE federal member Sarah Henderson has announced government funding for advocacy and welfare services for veterans, serving members and their families, war widows and widowers in the region.

Ms Henderson said the Geelong-Surf Coast Regional Veterans’ Centre would receive $34,128 through the Building Excellence in Support and Training (BEST) grant program to assist the centre with providing help and advice to the veteran community.

“Ex-service organisations are making a real difference to the lives of veterans and ADF personnel by providing essential services from a trusted source.

She said the grant would help fund salaries for trained advocates and staff, essential office supplies, computer equipment, internet access and other administrative needs.

“The federal government is committed to providing ongoing support for our veterans, war widows and widowers, serving Australian Defence Force personnel and their families in Corangamite.”
