Victoria Police release CCTV footage of $4 million suspicious fire at Christian College Geelong

VICTORIA Police have released CCTV footage in relation to a “suspicious fire” at a Waurn Ponds School earlier this month.

The CCTV and images depict two men police believe can assist with their enquiries in relation to the blaze.

Geelong Crime Investigation Unit detectives released a statement saying the want to speak wit the men depicted in the footage.

“The first man is described as having a solid build and a reddish-coloured beard,” the statement read.

“He was pictured wearing dark-coloured clothing.”

“The second man had a medium build and was also in dark-coloured clothing.

The two people attended Christian College senior school on Pigdons Road about 12.30am on 1 January.

The men depicted in the video appear to be holding tools and allegedly damaged property at the school shortly before a fire was lit at a large building containing several classrooms.

Emergency services were called to reports of the fire at 2.30am.

According to police the building was “completely destroyed” in the blaze, with more than $4,000,000 worth of damage caused during the incident.

Police are calling on anyone who can assist in identifying the individuals to come forward.
