July 17, 2021 BY

THE Geelong Business Excellence Awards for 2021 will go virtual again and is shaping up to be an exciting experience live-streamed directly to thousands of viewers.

Presented by the Geelong Chamber of Commerce, the prestigious awards recognise and celebrate the region’s clever, creative and resilient businesses and business leaders.

Geelong Chamber CEO Ben Flynn said last year’s virtual awards ceremony attracted more than 10,000 people and the upcoming event on Tuesday, October 19 would build on that success.

“It was amazing to see the business community celebrate those at the top of their game in front of their families, friends and colleagues,” he said.

“We can’t wait to replicate another incredible event this year.”

Mr Flynn said the virtual event promised to be a highly produced, glamorous evening which shone a spotlight on how the Geelong business community had adapted, survived and thrived during the past year.

“It’s more important than ever to recognise those businesses and leaders who are driving our city forward and an event like this plays an important part in rebuilding everyone’s confidence,” he said.

The awards celebrate business excellence across 20 categories representing small, medium and large businesses from all industries including manufacturing, hospitality, tourism, retail, not-for-profit, health, financial services and more.

Major awards announced on the night include the 2021 Business of the Year, Business Leader of the Year and Young Entrepreneur of the Year.

Entries for this year’s awards close tomorrow (Friday, June 16).

Mr Flynn thanked the awards major sponsors, Deakin University and LBW Business + Wealth Advisors, as well as category sponsors and program partners who made the event possible.

“It’s a testament to the resilience of the Geelong business community to adapt and enjoy our night together despite the challenges,” he said.
