Visitors descend on Angair showcase event
VISITORS from far and wide spent portions of their weekend in Anglesea for Angair’s Wildflower and Arts Show at the town’s memorial hall.
The biggest event on Angair’s calendar, again showed why, with more than 1,000 visitors making an appearance over the two days.
Angair show coordinator David Walmsley said the weekend would not have been possible without the help of his volunteer team.
“It’s amazing how the event comes together, without too much together, probably because of how excited our members get for this event each year.
“This wouldn’t be possible without our volunteers, and I think that’s what makes this show special.
“The setup happens like clockwork, it’s the nature of everyone part of Angair.”
Many of last year’s elements were present at this year’s show, with Angair’s standard display showing which environmental weeds continue to threaten the Surf Coast’s bush and heathlands.
The Anglesea Memorial Hall was again filled with the hundreds of wildflowers still growing in the region.
Meanwhile Angair members and editors of ‘The Flowers of Anglesea and Aireys Inlet’ Margaret MacDonald and Gail Slykhuis had their book on display for visitors to read.
The show also had a slide show of native birds that can be found in the region with each species’ call played throughout the venue.
“The weekend was really good, a nice constant flow of visitors, so it been really good with a lot of positive feedback.”
“Excitement is already increasing for next year.”
