Warralily celebrates 10,000th resident

With 2022 coming to an end, Warralily is celebrating the 10,000 residents who now call the thriving estate their home.

Since launching as Geelong’s first master-planned community, Warralily has turned into a haven for many people in the community including first homeowners, people downsizing and families making a sea change.

Geelong local Anthony Barnett looks back fondly on his name being the first one to be pulled out of the ballot when lots went on the market in 2010, and says being the first official purchaser was a great surprise that continues to reward him with an ideal lifestyle.

“I was attracted to the new growth area, with its detailed plan for infrastructure and ample open spaces, as a good place to raise children,” Mr Barnett said. “I also wanted to live close to Geelong and local beaches, as well as with easy access to Melbourne.

“Life is good at Warralily. The people are wonderful, and the environment is fantastic too, and there are lots of places for my boys to explore and be active with their friends.”

In the previous financial year, Warralily sold a record 604 lots and was crowned the top selling greenfield project in Victoria and the only project from Geelong to average more than 50 sales a month. Warralily general manager Mark Whinfield said a strong community spirit was a key factor that separated Warralily from the crowd.

“We invested in community development from the very beginning, when our first resident moved in, and the sense of belonging from this still resonates with residents a decade later.”

Over the past decade, Warralily has grown exponentially and now features an array of community services and retail outlets, supermarkets, schools and plenty of parkland and community sports facilities.

The increased resources around the area and its proximity to Geelong, the Bellarine and Surf Coast have resulted in strong capital growth, rising from an average of $159,000 for a 448sqm lot in 2010, to $450,000 in 2022.

The people of Warralily continue to be impressed with their choice in lifestyle.
