Man’s body found on Whites Beach

POLICE will prepare a report for the coroner after the body of a man was located on Whites Beach in Torquay today.

Police are not treating his death as suspicious.

Earlier this morning, emergency services carried out a search for a missing person in the Torquay and Jan Juc area.

Police units, including at least one distinctive dark grey helicopter from the air wing, and volunteers from Torquay’s State Emergency Services (SES) unit conducted the search.

A spokesperson from the SES said the Torquay unit was called in to assist with a line search near Spring Creek Reserve at 9.22am, and the job was declared closed at 12.30pm.

Police vehicles and ambulances were seen parked on the Torquay foreshore on The Esplanade near the Wyndham Resort Torquay.

Several people have posted on social media that they heard a helicopter circling over the Spring Creek area in the early hours of this morning.
