Winchelsea pool closed until further notice
AFTER Winchelsea’s outdoor swimming pool opened just in time for summer, an update on the Shire’s Facebook page on Monday announced it will remain closed until further notice.
The post stated ‘we are working hard to resolve the issue and will update you as soon as we can as to when we can reopen’.
The pool had only been opened for two days before it was closed due to a ‘break down in the plant room’.
It is a blow for local residents as the pool is a fantastic hub, providing much-needed relief from the summer heat and offering swim lessons and opportunities to hire
the facilities.
Initially, the seasonal outdoor pool was to open daily until March 11, 2021, between 12pm and 6pm, excluding public holidays and Code Red Days.
The community showed its excitement by commenting on a Surf Coast Shire Facebook page, with one commenter saying “we are so lucky to have a pool”.
The facility offers shaded areas, 25-metre lap pool lanes, a toddler play area and family
change rooms.
Swimming lessons are available and there are options for children’s birthday parties, fundraising events and community group bookings. The VicSwim program, which provides fun and educational aquatic holiday programs to ensure people are water safe will also be happening.
A single swim costs $4.90 for kids, $6 for adults and $1 for spectators.
