Sandra and daughter Tori enjoy a glass of wine and the picturesque views of Swan Bay at Basils Farm.

This year’s Winter Shiraz weekend saw wine lovers converge on wineries across the Geelong, Surf Coast, Moorabool Valley and Bellarine Peninsula regions. The unique July 7-8 event gave revellers the chance to taste their way across an impressive range of wineries and meet the makers with some of the region’s most knowledgeable local vignerons present. Crowds enjoyed great food, wine and live entertainment at the free event, which afforded plenty of chances to take home bottles of their favourite red. Guests soaked up the warmth of open fires and outdoor braziers in beautiful surroundings while wineries showcased award-winning Shiraz. Several talented chefs also matched the region’s renowned cool climate wines with hearty winter fare. Wineries that participated included Leura Park Estate, Terindah Estate, Baie Wines, Scotchman’s Hill, Basils Farm, Jack Rabbit Vineyard and Mt Duneed Estate.
