Women’s business group plans first event

A NETWORKING group dedicated to supporting Surf Coast businesswomen is preparing to hold its launch event this month.

The Surf Coast Women in Business Community function will take place in Torquay on May 27 at Ginger Monkey Cafe from 6.30pm to 8.30pm.

Co-founders Leslie Carvitto and Kate Wood said the event would be a chance for female business owners to meet and make positive connections within the local community.

Ms Carvitto said the group, which was established in March this year and already has almost 300 members on Facebook, was for businesswomen who live or work on the Surf Coast.

“It is a place for collaboration, community and support,” she said.

“As we grow, we’ll be offering informal meet-ups, mastermind classes and business education, workshops and more.”

The guest speaker at the event will be Kate Williams who will discuss her business journey as the owner of successful local subscription-based service Retreat Yourself Box.

Ms Williams, of Torquay, started Retreat Yourself in 2015 after identifying a need for a ‘health retreat in a box’ which allowed the user to de-stress, get healthy and experience the benefits of a health retreat without leaving home.

Tickets for the event cost $25 which includes finger food. Drinks will be available for purchase.
